BIG Truth #10---God provides all good things

Today we learned that God provides all good things. We opened the message with reading Psalm 103. The challenge for all of us is this: could we recite this passage as our life desire? If not, why? What are our obstacles that keep us from letting all that we are praise the LORD?

We also referenced James 1:17-18, Ephesians 1:3 and Romans 8:31-32. We learned that God provides all good things we need through Jesus.

Think about how forgiveness and eternal life are possible; only because of what Jesus did for all of us!

If you haven't taken time to thank God for all you have, do it now. May our hearts be overwhelmed with the desire of letting all we are praise the LORD!

BIG Truth #9

It’s okay not to understand everything about God, just be willing to believe!

We focused on the truth that there is One God in three Persons; The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 2:18 and Exodus 9:13-14)

The Bible teaches us that God is all 3 Persons, all at the same time and each Person lives eternally as God. This is one of those "WOW" moments where we need to just be willing to believe!
What can we learn from this BIG truth?
  • God is greater than anything we can imagine.
  • This truth should make us wonder about the greatness of God.
  • This is God and there is no other!

BIG Truth #8 There is only One God!

We live in a world today no different than 2000 years ago. Some people believe there are other gods. We looked at Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

These first words of the Bible give us 3 BIG Truths:
1. There is only 1 God
2. The 1 true God made everything
3. God has authority over everything

We looked at Elijah as he took on the prophets of Baal. (1 Kings 18) I know you may have read and heard this story numerous times, however I challenge you to read this passage because when the people saw that there was only 1 God, their reaction is awesome.

We also looked at other passages that make this BIG truth more solid.
Deuteronomy 6:4
1 Kings 8:60
Isaiah 45:5-6
Deuteronomy 4:35

We believe that there is only 1 God, He did create everything and He is in charge of everything. So, is He truly in charge of your life? If not, He can be today.
Ephesians 2:8-9 and Romans 10:9-10

BIG Truth #7---God is perfectly wise, all-powerful, and completely good!

We focused on God's kindness today. Think about how God shows us His grace, patience, forgiveness and love. What better definition of kindness exists?
We learned the difference between having knowledge and being wise. Here is an example;
We sang two songs, one with the message that we need a Savior, the other that says, I surrender all. We need a Savior is a fact, facts are knowledge. I surrender all is a fact that we can put into action, this is wisdom at work.
We focused on 3 points...
God is wise, Romans 16:27, Psalm 104:24 and 1 Corinthians 1:18-25
God is all-powerful, Genesis 18:13-15 and Jeremiah 32:17
God is all-good, Psalm 5:4 and Psalm 119:68

There are so many BIG truths about God! We are having a great time learning about just how GREAT our God is....join us one week as we worship our living God!

BIG Truth #6---Our Decisions really do matter

Today we celebrated Jesus' victory over death....he didn't just beat death, He smashed it!

Our message was focused on Judas and the bad decisions that he made.

It is easy to think how Judas' heart must have been stone cold....I mean think about it. He was there; he saw Jesus perform miracles, he heard Jesus preach, heal, love and change people.

But wait....we are exposed to God's work, power and love everyday and we still make bad decisions too!

Until we choose to freely give God our all, we too will continue to make bad decisions. We will continue to make plans on our own, thinking only of ourselves, a lot like Judas.

When will we get it??? We say we love God, so let's show it. How will the world ever see a difference if we do not choose to show them?

Hebrews 4:12.........the Word is powerful and alive.....let it mold you today!

BIG Truth #5

Today we looked at God's Richness.

BIG Truth #5--- we need to know God better so we will love and trust Him more!

I used a BIG life size bowl versus a small kid's bowl. The illustration taught that we can try and live a good life and try and provide for ourselves, however it will never be enough. When we allow God to provide for us, our blessings are unlimited and never run out.

We looked at 3 ways God's richness is seen:
1. God is eternal---God has no beginning or end. Psalm 90:12
2. God is Holy---the Bible tells us to LISTEN! God is holy and if we could ever get this, we could be world changers. God's holiness means He is separate from all that is wrong. (Isaiah 6:3 and Exodus 15:11)
3. God is unchangeable---because God never changes (Psalm 102:25-27) we can count on Him for everything.
With us knowing these rich truths this should bring us to praise God's greatness
and His unchanging character.

BIG Truth #4

Last week we learned that God is fully God apart from us. We learned and must never forget that we can never add or offer God anything.
BIG Truth #4--- God has everything we need.

The illustration that I used was a small chair versus a BIG chair. God should have complete control of our life, however many of us only give Him a small part.
If we are ever going to glorify Him the way we should, He must have complete control and we have to believe that He will provide everything we need.

BIG Truth #3

Today's BIG truth was: God is God---completely and perfectly.

God is so awesome and so perfect that He lives fully as God without any help from anyone or anything. All good things that we can think of are God; truth, wisdom, power, kindness, love, righteousness and every other good thing that can be spoken.

Acts 17:24-35 James 1:17 Isaiah 40:12

Nothing can be added to God's greatness. This should tell us how much we should depend upon Him and how much we should glorify Him. Our hearts should want to praise God and to live in complete dependence upon Him.

The examples I used today were a giant 1st place trophy and a 2nd/3rd place medals. The world tells us that in order to be "successful", to be a "winner", or to be "noticed" we must be #1. God's Word is just the opposite. When Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, He said, "to love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. Second, was to love others as we have been loved. If we live by these truths, then we are at least #3.

There is nothing wrong with a competitive spirit, just as long as we never compete against our Savior.

Today's LIVE BIG Message

There is another amazing way that God makes Himself known to us:

BIG Truth #2 God talks to us through His Word!

One of the first things we learn about God in Genesis is God is a talking God.

From Gen 1:3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 20, 24 and 26 God creates the world and us by simply talking!

Hebrews 4:12 tells us how powerful and alive God's Word is and how it will expose our innermost thoughts and desires.

Most Christians have a common BIG Problem; we too easily ignore God's Word and we don't spend the time reading and learning what God says.

BIG Answer; when we realize the Bible for what it is (God talking) we will desire to spend more time reading, learning and listening to God!

Paul gives a great description of the Bible in 2 Timothy 3: 16-17. Peter helps us understand how men could write the books of the Bible and it still be God talking in 2 Peter 1:20-21.

As an illustration today, I used a 12oz can of Gatorade versus a lifesize can of Gatorade. The point is simple; we try too often to provide for ourselves. God's supply is much more than 12oz, it's a lifetime supply.

We finished with Jeremiah 29:11; there is only one way we will be able to live out the plan God has for us. We must commit ourselves to knowing the Bible better and realize that God's Word has the power to help us grow!

God's Word fell upon us today as we had 2 young ladies surrender thier life to Christ.

As we continue to look at BIG Truths about our God, please make God's Word the primary focus in your family life. God is working in and through the life of our kids!

BIG Truth #2

This Sunday we will look at how we can LIVE BIG by focusing on BIG truth #2:

God talks to us through His Word.

It is so important that we all get this. God's Word is very helpful and useful in growing us. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
